Although the Spark works nicely with just a phone or tablet, to get the full Spark experience, you'll need the dedicated Remote Controller. Featuring a brand new Wi-Fi signal transmission system, Spark's remote controller is capable of controlling the aircraft and camera at a maximum transmission range (in Australia) of 500m, compared to the 100m maximum when using a phone as the controller. The Remote also enables the Spark to travel much faster. In Sport mode, the top speed increases to 50kph.
And personally, we find dedicated joysticks and buttons more responsive and far easier to use than virtual controls on a touchscreen. The Spark Remote can connect to a mobile device wirelessly and display a live video feed via the DJI GO 4 app. Maximum remote controller battery life is approximately 2.5 hours. With a design very similar to the Mavic Pro Remote, it features folding clamps which allow you to attach your mobile device securely for easy monitoring. In every way, it turns your Spark into a far more usable and enjoyable drone.
