The letter in a RAM part number is the ball size. Every part in a mount must use the same ball size. C size parts carry no letter, so RAM-201U is a C size arm and RAM-B-201U is the B size version.

Arm length sets the reach. Short keeps the device close and rigid, Medium suits most installs, Long is for extra reach. If in doubt, choose Medium.
Overview
The RAM ROD® Flush Spline Post Base (RAM-114FMU) installs directly into a vessel’s gunwale to create a clean, low-profile rod mounting location. Designed to fit into a 1.4" diameter hole, the spline post base is secured by drilling down the four corners for a stable, permanent installation. The center socket is compatible with RAM ROD® and RAM® Tube™ rod holders featuring a spline post. An integrated rubber cap seals the socket when the rod holder is removed, helping prevent water from pooling and keeping your deck clean and dry.
