RAM ball size guide
The letter in a RAM part number is the ball size. Every part in a mount must use the same ball size. C size parts carry no letter, so RAM-201U is a C size arm and RAM-B-201U is the B size version.
| Size | Ball diameter | Holds up to | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 9/16" (14 mm) | 0.45 kg | Small cameras, action cams, remotes |
| B | 1" (25 mm) | 0.9 kg | Phones, GPS units, small tablets. The most common size. |
| C | 1.5" (38 mm) | 1.8 kg | Tablets, small monitors, rugged devices |
| D | 2.25" (57 mm) | 2.7 kg | Large displays and laptops |
| E | 3.38" (86 mm) | 6.8 kg | Heavy monitors and equipment |
Arm length sets the reach. Short keeps the device close and rigid, Medium suits most installs, Long is for extra reach. If in doubt, choose Medium.
