The Exposure Collection 3-Filter ND Pack for the Phantom 4 Pro & Advanced is the newest of PolarPro's Cinema Series™ range.
Primarily designed for long exposures in stills photography, the Exposure Collection of ND filters are:
• Engineered for the Phantom 4 Pro/Adv camera
• Production quality glass with AR coating
• Feather-light for smooth gimbal operation
• Includes custom filter hard case
• Lifetime Warranty
The included filters are:
The ND64 reduces 6-stops of light. This filter could still be used for video if shooting wide open (f2.8) on a very bright sunny day.
The ND128 filter reduces 7-stops of light. This filter will be primarily used for shooting still photos, you would probably never use it for video. The ND128 will significantly reduce the light to the sensor, allowing you to shoot creative long exposures during the day.
The ND256 filter reduces light by 8-stops. This filter is only for shooting long exposure still photos. This is the darkest of the Exposure Collection and will unlock the lowest shutter speed.
Long Exposure Photography:
PolarPro’s high power ND filters enable photographers to capture long exposure shots during daylight hours. Natively, there's too much light for the Phantom 4 Pro & Advanced to shoot long exposure during daytime. A heavy ND filter such as an ND64, ND128, or ND256 will help cut down light, unlocking longer exposures.
What To Expect:
Shooting long exposure images from a drone can be challenging and requires shooting a lot of images. The goal is to keep the drone stable while the shutter is open (this may be up to 8 seconds). This makes shooting in windy conditions particularly challenging.
We recommend shooting long exposures in very calm winds and shooting many images. If the shots are blurry, it means the drone drifted while the shutter was open. We suggest you shoot as many images as possible...
Subjects for Long Exposure:
There are many creative long exposure images online to start getting ideas from. Long-exposure from an aerial perspective unlocks many opportunities. You can start with shooting water: the ocean, rivers, lakes, and see how the longer exposure times affect the images. In fact, a long exposure on any fast moving scene will often capture other unique perspectives.
Each filter will yield a different shutter speed, which will in turn give a different result. The higher the ND, the longer the exposure will be.
The Cinema Series glass is a production level glass with optical AR coatings to help reduce lens flaring. It's especially important to have a high-end glass with strong ND filters to prevent colour casts. These Cinema Series filters hold a constant colour temperature, even at high ND ratings.
And if you require a polarising effect at the same time, the PolarPro Cinema Artisan Collection will achieve similar long exposures with polarisation too.
Whichever set you choose, your creative toolbox for unique still photography from an aerial perspective will be considerably enhanced!
